COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Trinity English Lutheran Church will host ‘The Longest Night’ at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 450 West Washington Boulevard to remember community members who died while homeless. The event will include candlelighting & a blessing.  21Alive
  • The new Community Hub for Language Access project launched today by the Language Access Lab will connect local health and legal service providers with trained interpreters, using an $8,900 grant to better serve residents with limited English proficiency in northeast Indiana.  The Journal Gazette
  • Fort Wayne UNITED launched the Cops Stop N Shop program in partnership with the Fort Wayne Police Department and Ten Point Coalition to help Oxford families access essential resources. Two families each month will shop with officers at a local Meijer, spending up to $500.  21Alive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ivy Tech's Fort Wayne campus is planning a nearly $70 million transformation project — dubbed Reinvest, Reinvent, and Revitalize — that will add a new student life center, nursing and health sciences building and green spaces, with work scheduled to end by June 2028 using state, institutional and private funds.  WFFT-TV
  • Ivy Tech announced a $70 million project to revamp its Fort Wayne campuses starting in January 2026; the three-phase plan will renovate the Student Life Center, build a new Nursing + Health Sciences building, and modernize the Coliseum campus by June 2028.  21Alive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Farmers must submit acreage reports by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 to qualify for USDA’s Farmer Bridge Assistance Program, with crop payment rates set to be announced Monday, Dec. 22 and payments released by Feb. 28.  US 93.3

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Zimmerman/Volk Associates released a housing study that projects up to 263 new downtown apartments per year and 58 rental units in East Central — noting a more than 50% rise in median home values over four years. City officials said the study will guide housing policy and balance growth with affordability.  WFFT-TV
