  • A new CitiLink bus shelter outside The League improves access for riders by offering wider space for mobility devices, clear visual markers, and real-time audio and visual updates. Officials said the six-month-old shelter — a promising start — may guide future upgrades.  WFFT-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • A holiday event is planned for the Fort Wayne riverfront this Sunday — Dec. 14 — with festive activities to bring the community together, organizers said.  21Alive
  • Artist James Lucey is set to design 'Flow' — a kinetic light sculpture inspired by local rivers — for the 77 Steps Alleyway in downtown, replacing the current artwork. The installation, funded by the Public Art Giveback Program, is scheduled for early summer 2026.  WFFT-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Saint Francis will acquire Leffler Academy to boost affordable healthcare education. The academy will launch certificate programs and degrees in Fort Wayne and other local areas starting in spring 2026 (with simplified tuition options).  WFFT-TV
  • Lawmakers are considering Senate Bill 78 after a Tuesday hearing; the bill would require K-12 students to lock up cellphones all day + Fort Wayne schools using similar policies reported fewer behavioral issues, with a full chamber vote expected in early January.  21Alive
  • Lutheran Social Services of Indiana will close the Children’s Village Early Learning Center on January 16 — Brightpoint will help families transfer childcare vouchers after state voucher suspensions prompted the decision. The center served over 1,500 families since 2006.  WFFT-TV

  • Officer Justin Koehl died Tuesday at Stillwater Hospice after battling a brain tumor and was surrounded by family as fellow officers praised his dedicated service in the community.  21Alive
  • On Tuesday, the Senate Public Policy Committee voted 8-0 to let Rising Star Casino relocate to Allen County or Fort Wayne as part of Senate Bill 70 by Sen. Justin Busch; the bill requires a $25 million relocation fee and a $500 million investment and will be reviewed in January.  WFFT-TV
