- ➤ Fort Wayne police officers participated in the 14th annual Kops 4 Kids event on Monday night—taking more than 50 children from the Parkview Cancer Institute and the YWCA Women’s Shelter to shop at Meijer. 21Alive
- ➤ Summit City Climbing Co. has launched a winter coat drive and fundraiser in partnership with The Rescue Mission; donations (of new or gently used coats) are accepted in yellow bins at the gym until Dec. 19 while pass proceeds from Monday, Dec. 8 go to support local families. WFFT-TV
- ➤ A local dance program aims to reduce youth violence by offering classes for at-risk youth and will launch next week at a community center. Organizers say the initiative provides a creative outlet and builds community ties. 21Alive

- ➤ Indiana 4-H has launched the Beyond Ready program to help teens prepare for work and life. Introduced at a statewide youth staff conference in September, the program offers hands-on workshops (including mock interviews and leadership challenges) to build practical job skills. US 93.3

- ➤ Fort Wayne and Greater Fort Wayne Inc. will host an informational forum on the local Google data center at 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Grand Wayne Center + Google, Indiana Michigan Power, and City Utilities will present details and take questions via smart phones or index cards. - ➤ Citilink announced on Monday that a new partnership with Via will enhance paratransit services for Fort Wayne residents; starting Dec. 15, Via will operate all Citilink Access and Access Plus services, promising improved reliability + enhanced technology. The Journal Gazette
- ➤ Fort Wayne received four proposals from nonprofits to run a new Homeless Services Center (combining a 24/7 shelter and safe parking) under one roof. The selection committee is reviewing responses after proposals closed Friday, Dec. 5. WFFT-TV

- ➤ Warming centers across Fort Wayne offer safe shelter from the bitter cold as temperatures drop. The Rescue Mission, InAsMuch Ministry, the local library, Project ME, Citilink buses and The Salvation Army provide free meals, clothing and supplies today. WFFT-TV
- ➤ Indiana conservation officers urge residents to test ice before winter activities, saying only ice at least four inches thick is safe for fishing and five inches is safe for snowmobiling; they advise wearing life jackets, carrying ice picks and rope, and calling trained crews for rescues. WOWO
