- ➤ Two Purdue University Fort Wayne golfers, AJ Agnew and Landon Smith, rescued a 91-year-old man from a pond after his vehicle crashed in October, officials said. Fire Chief Eric Lahey and Mayor Sharon Tucker honored the students on Wednesday with coins and the Fire Chief Recognition Award. The Journal Gazette
- ➤ Fort Wayne marked the completion of the Pufferbelly Trail’s 'Golden Spike' section yesterday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that celebrated a $4.2 million investment from Ice Way in Washington Center Road. The 1.7-mile trail meets ADA and PROWAG standards and will later link 130 miles of trails. 21Alive
- ➤ Applications are open for the 2026 FORT-ify Neighborhood Accelerator — offering coaching, over $5,500 in funding, and branding support to registered neighborhood associations. - ➤ Local utility companies shared winter safety and cost-saving tips to help residents prepare for hazards as cold weather arrives. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City and GFL ask residents to move cars into driveways and clear snow around bins so that garbage trucks can safely collect waste during winter weather (icy streets hinder truck access). The Street Department will clear and salt streets to resume full service as soon as possible. US 93.3
- ➤ Due to new state and federal permit rules and a no-rise floodway requirement, Fort Wayne’s Riverfront Phase IIb will not include a planned tree canopy trail or public docks along the St. Marys River. The $7–8 million saved will fund other riverfront projects, with completion set for 2026. KPC News
- ➤ NIPSCO is under investigation by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission after new smart meter technology caused billing errors for many natural gas customers. The company issued bill credits while regulators review the issue on 870,000 meters across northern Indiana — including Fort Wayne. 21Alive
