- ➤ The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program ends this week on Friday — the program helps over 2,000 children ages 0 to 14 in Fort Wayne by offering new clothing and toys with tags available at many local sites. 21Alive
- ➤ The Red Cross is asking Fort Wayne volunteers to join its Disaster Action Team to meet a critical need as Giving Tuesday approaches. The organization said it helped with over 200 disasters last year—volunteers will be needed to support future emergency efforts. 21Alive
- ➤ On Monday at 5:30 p.m., the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne awarded a $25,000 grant to the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council and the City of New Haven for the youth-led Guardian Park project east of City Hall. - ➤ Research by NAFSA shows that international students contributed more than $997 million statewide and over $43 million locally—supporting 8,350 jobs across Indiana and 170 jobs in the 3rd Congressional District. Indiana Tech and Purdue University Fort Wayne remain in the state’s top 10 for spending by international students even as overall enrollment dropped this fall. The Journal Gazette

- ➤ The Indiana DNR is asking outdoor enthusiasts to nominate candidates for the Indiana Trails Advisory Board, where selected members—who represent various trail-user groups—will serve a three-year term starting in March and meet quarterly at 3 p.m. local time; nominations run from Dec. 1 to 30. - ➤ Local nonprofits and the Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services teamed up to launch a winter emergency shelter plan that runs from December 1 through March 31. - ➤ Mayor Sharon Tucker welcomed the Fire Department’s 98th and 99th recruit classes to their first day of training today at the Public Safety Academy in Fort Wayne—this new session prepares recruits for their roles in public safety.
