  • Artlink held its first Winter Market of the season on Saturday where more than 10 local small businesses offered original artwork, handmade home goods and holiday cards with complimentary hot chocolate or coffee—Artlink said the event supports local vendors and announced two more markets on December 6 and December 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  21Alive
  • The 40th annual Festival of Gingerbread began November 28 at 9 a.m.—it has 183 gingerbread creations, restored museum exhibits, and holiday displays. A Pipe Cleaner Trees session was held November 29 and today visitors can create a Legend of the Gingerbread Ornament from noon to 5 p.m.—Gingerbread Men Cookies are sold for 75 cents each.  Around Fort Wayne

  • The National Weather Service warned a significant early season winter storm would bring 6 to 12 inches of snow to our area and cause hazardous travel until Sunday morning. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Fort Wayne’s Street Department has begun converting tanker trucks used for leaf pickup into snow plows to handle forecasted snowfall from Saturday through Sunday while delaying leaf collection and asking residents to park off-street so plows can clear emergency routes—priority one streets will be addressed first before other roads are plowed if three inches of snow accumulate.  Around Fort Wayne
  • The Indiana Public Retirement System has launched a secure database as part of its reclaim your retirement campaign to help more than 6,000 members find unclaimed retirement benefits and defined contribution funds. People can search the database with a first name, last name, and date of birth—if a match is found, they are told what to do or can call INPRS at 844—464—6777 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.  WFFT-TV
  • The Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post said it will tow abandoned vehicles from interstates—US roads—and state roads ahead of incoming winter weather to prevent road hazards and advises drivers to arrange towing if needed.  Around Fort Wayne
  • Fort Wayne officials are preparing for a winter storm expected to bring 2 to 8 inches of snow over the weekend. The City has converted leaf trucks into snow plows for 18 routes—prioritizing major roads, bus routes, and residential streets—while INDOT crews will plow and salt state roads and interstates every two to three hours until travel lanes are clear.  21Alive

  • Dr. Mark O’Shaughnessy warns that shoveling snow and exposure to cold weather can strain your heart — he advises taking breaks and watching for chest pressure, shortness of breath, or dizziness while clearing driveways as heavy snowfall is forecast this weekend.   • Bishop Dwenger won the IHSAA Football Class 4A Championship on Saturday by beating Roncalli 36-29 in a rematch after their Week One loss.
