- ➤ Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation reopened the Headwaters Ice Rink in downtown Fort Wayne to offer affordable outdoor winter fun for all ages. The rink now offers new skate rentals and accessible skate helpers, and it will host $1 entry and skate rentals on Dr. John Crawford Days starting January 29 — a chance for families to enjoy skating together. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ WANE15’s Ethan Dahlen inspects gingerbread creations ahead of the Festival of Gingerbread 2025—an annual contest held at the History Center that runs from November 28 through December 21, featuring works by local artists from Pre-K to professionals. WANE 15
- ➤ Fort Wayne Youththeatre will present a retelling of A Christmas Story that brings familiar scenes with new twists—interactive narration and costume design lessons in partnership with Fort Wayne Community School’s Amp Lab—and scheduled performances from December 5 at 7 p.m. through December 14 with a Ralphie’s Breakfast with Santa on December 13. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ East Allen County Schools partnered with Turnstone to make gym class accessible for all students by adding adaptive sports equipment and training from Move United. The pilot program offers activities such as sitting volleyball, badminton, and boccia and will run through December. The Journal Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Motorists using the U.S. 24/I-469 interchange saw changes when on November 22, construction crews switched southbound traffic back, and INDOT announced that removal of the northbound barrier will take place next week; drivers should note that on or after December 1 the exit ramp to eastbound U.S. 24 will reopen — leaving left turns from I-469 to Rose Avenue no longer allowed. - ➤ Fort Wayne crews will begin water main repairs at 8 a.m. today on Getz Road—restricting the right lane northbound between Illinois Road and Breconshire Drive. Drivers must shift to the center lane and follow traffic signage as the repair will last one day. The Journal Gazette
