- ➤ Downtown Fort Wayne will host HolidayFest events in the coming weeks that include a window decorating contest (Candy Cane Lane theme, Nov 24 to Jan 3), Night of Lights on Nov 26 starting at 6 p.m., and the Festival of Trees at the Embassy Theatre. - ➤ The Allen County Memorial Coliseum is partnering with Allen County Toys for Tots and MidWest America Federal Credit Union to host a drive for new, unwrapped toys for children up to 18. Donations will be accepted near the Ticket Office during Fort Wayne Komets games on November 21, 22, 23, 27 and 30—as well as during regular Coliseum business hours until November 30. - ➤ Retired Fort Wayne banker W. Paul Wolf—an Avilla native—pledged to match every donation dollar for dollar up to $125,000 to help complete the new fox habitats at Black Pine Animal Sanctuary. - ➤ The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum announced a holiday toy drive in partnership with MidWest America Federal Credit Union and Toys for Tots to collect new, unwrapped toys during select Fort Wayne Komets games. - ➤ Fort Wayne’s downtown business district announced that its annual Holly Shopping event will run on Nov. 29 to boost spending at local shops and restaurants during Thanksgiving weekend — trolleys and a Community Transportation Network bus will help shoppers access a 99-block downtown area and the Broadway and Wells Street corridors. - ➤ Fort Wayne will celebrate its 21st annual Christmas on Broadway on Friday, November 21 with festivities beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Broadway Plaza, where a parade featuring Concordia Lutheran High School Marching Band, vintage firetrucks, neighborhood associations, and a 10-foot sleigh float carrying Santa and Mrs. Claus will lead up to a tree lighting ceremony at 6:00 p.m. Youth from World Baseball Academy (WBA) will join the event as a 40-foot spruce adorned with over 40,000 lights is set to be lit with music, synchronized fireworks, and gifts from Deister Machine Company.
