COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Allen County Christmas Bureau connects families in need with donors for the holiday season. Kaye Kleinschmidt, the board president, said local adopters donate gifts, clothing, food, and a $50 grocery gift card on an assigned day — the process remains entirely anonymous.  WANE 15
  • Humane Fort Wayne is launching its Holiday Rovernights program to help shelter dogs spend Thanksgiving in a foster home—eligible hosts will pick up a dog on November 26 and return it by November 28 at 11 a.m. with all supplies provided.  21Alive
  • United Way of Allen County reached its $45,000 goal on Friday to fund local food pantries during the recent government shutdown and help families in need. The funds will soon be provided to partner agencies (Associated Churches, Community Harvest, and Miss Virginia’s) to boost food access.  21Alive
  • The Parkview Field Holiday Lights event returns bigger this year with 1.5 million lights, new displays, Johnny Claus and holiday train rides—running for 44 nights from November 13 to January 3. Tickets can be bought in advance or by phone at 260-482-6400 and special nights include Family Feast Night, Paws and Claws, and Thirsty Thursday.  WANE 15
  • The County Line Church of God Food Pantry has eased protein shortages caused by rising egg prices by accepting donated venison through the Indiana DNR Hunt for Hunger Program—hunters with extra tags are encouraged to help as the pantry will distribute the meat next Friday.  21Alive

  • Dude Perfect will visit Fort Wayne during the 2026 Squad Games Tour—taking over the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on July 22, 2026 for trick shots, competitions, and family fun.  21Alive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Educators at Indiana Tech discussed artificial intelligence’s role in education on Friday—panelist Lucy Yang compared AI to a rice cooker and stressed the need for proper guidance for students to use the technology safely.  The Journal Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fort Wayne bus riders can now track their buses in real time thanks to a new partnership between Citilink and Systrans — the Transit app shows bus locations, arrival times, and route details — and Citilink will merge fare purchases with tracking in the future.  WANE 15
  • IDEM held a public hearing at Ivy Tech’s campus Thursday night to review Hatchworks LLC's permit change that would increase diesel backup generators from 36 to 179 for the Google data center at 6015 Adams Center Road. The hearing drew a large crowd as residents expressed concerns about public health, emissions, and transparency — while developers maintained that the generators would be used only in emergencies under strict operational limits.  WANE 15
  • Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fort Wayne–South Bend is reviewing a Civil Investigative Demand from the Indiana Attorney General’s Office delivered Thursday and has denied any ties to trafficking. The organization said it will fully cooperate with the investigation—aiming to support people in need through its social services.  WOWO

  • Parkview Health now offers grieving parents a free 3D printed keepsake through its Forever in Your Heart program, which scans an infant's hand or footprint to create a lasting memory (the digital image can be used to remake the keepsake if needed) while planning to expand the service to include other family losses.  The Journal Gazette
