  • The Salvation Army of Allen County kicked off its Angel Tree campaign Thursday at Sweetwater Sound to provide new clothing and toys to children aged 0–14 whose families face financial hardship this holiday season. Officials said that tags on Christmas trees across Allen County include instructions for donors and that the community can help before the December 5 deadline (program details provided).  21Alive

  • Early Wednesday, residents in Aboite Township saw the northern lights in the northwest sky after solar storms produced colorful auroras — activity that forced NASA to postpone Blue Origin’s rocket launch carrying Mars orbiters until conditions improved.  The Journal Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Citilink now offers a real-time bus tracker that shows bus locations and arrival times through the Token Transit app + the service says the system will improve comfort and safety for Fort Wayne riders as winter weather approaches.  21Alive
  • Residents filled the auditorium at Ivy Tech on Tuesday night to challenge an air permit for Google’s Project Zodiac, saying diesel generator emissions at the nearly 900-acre site could harm health. Reverend Kimberly Koczan said the permit lacks required pollution controls — IDEM will review comments until November 17.  WFFT-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Adult and Teen Challenge received a $200,000 grant from Allen County Council as part of the opioid settlement funds to renovate the old American Legion facility at 2025 Olladale Drive in northeast Fort Wayne. The nonprofit will open a treatment center—housing up to 24 residents and offering round-the-clock support—by March 2026.  WANE 15

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Developers presented plans for a 66-unit tiny home community on Fort Wayne’s south side at Lower Huntington and Winchester Roads, where homes will cost between $50,000 and $150,000 and at least 10 percent are reserved for qualified buyers through Habitat for Humanity — a move focused on increasing affordable home ownership. The plan moves to the Board of Zoning Appeals next Wednesday and if approved, construction will begin in April 2026 with the first homes available by fall 2026 — aiming to fill a vital housing need for local families and veterans.  WANE 15

  • Fort Wayne native Campbell “Cami” Wood won a Gold Medal with Team USA Sitting Volleyball at the 2025 Youth Parapan American Games in Chile last weekend—she was named MVP and Best Attacker. The 15-year-old returned home and now trains with Empowered Volleyball and Blackhawk Christian’s high school team ahead of her next competitions.  WANE 15
