  • Humane Fort Wayne held its Feline Fall Festival on November 8 at 1333 Maycrest Drive — families built cat shelters and could take a second one home while enjoying face painting, vendors, and a food truck. CULTURE NEWS

  • Santa Claus will ride the Cameron Christmas Train across Northeast Indiana, Southeastern Michigan, and Western Ohio from November 20 through November 22 — the event will deliver gifts to families along its route — and is supported by Cameron Health and local sponsors.  Around Fort Wayne

  • Fort Wayne Community Schools will host the Third Annual Schools of Success Celebration on Tuesday, November 11th at Ceruti’s located at 6601 Innovation Blvd.—the event will honor educators, students and community partners while showcasing hands-on learning that prepares students for college, the military and future careers.  Around Fort Wayne

HEALTH NEWS

  • NIPSCO is warning residents this November to install and regularly test carbon monoxide detectors to protect against the silent killer produced by incomplete fuel burning (such as gasoline, wood, or natural gas). The utility advises inspecting heating equipment annually and taking immediate action—leaving the home and calling 911—if a detector sounds or symptoms occur.  WFFT-TV
  • A Fort Wayne doctor has introduced a new healthcare model that offers same-day appointments and after-hours care via phone call, text message or email. Dr. Jarrod Wiegman limits his patient list to 500 — a change that may help reduce long wait times for care.  WOWO
  • Parkview Regional Medical Center received the Commitment to Quality Award from the American Heart Association on November 5 for working to make patient care better.   • Today, six northeast Indiana high school marching bands competed at Lucas Oil Stadium in the 52nd ISSMA State Finals—Leo placed 6th, Garrett placed 9th and Angola placed 10th in Class C while bands in other classes will perform later.  The Journal Gazette
  • Bishop Dwenger fell 3–0 to Roncalli in the 3A volleyball state championship game — the Saints shared postgame remarks after the loss.  WFFT-TV
  • The Carroll Chargers swept the Plainfield Quakers on November 8 to win their second straight IHSAA 4A volleyball state championship. They ended an undefeated season — a strong finish that secured the title.  WFFT-TV
