COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Visit Fort Wayne has released a new guide that highlights over 30 local houses with spooky Halloween displays—using a custom map of Allen County to help residents find the best decorations. The guide is now available online for those planning their Halloween tour.  US 93.3
  • A mother-daughter duo moved to Fort Wayne last December and built a growing TikTok following by exploring local restaurants—reviewing spots like Conner’s Kitchen and Bar, Joanna’s, Don Chava’s and The Liberty Diner. They have connected with local fans during in-person encounters and online comments and plan to keep trying new places based on community suggestions.  21Alive
  • The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory now features a new café called Café Flora after its previous coffee shop closed in 2024 — it offers Old Crown roasts, tea, specialty beverages and grab-and-go food made with locally sourced products while operating Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended Thursday hours.  21Alive
  • ICAN will host its first Salute to Service 5K and Family Walk on November 2 at Kreager Park in Fort Wayne to honor veterans and raise funds to provide free service dogs. Registration begins at noon—race starts at 2 p.m. with family activities planned.  WFFT-TV
  • The City of Fort Wayne completed the 4.7-mile Covington Road Trail connecting neighborhoods such as Sycamore Hills and Shores of Rock Creek — linking local residents, eight schools, and businesses. The project, built in eight phases from 2009 to today, cost nearly 8 million dollars with 4.2 million provided by federal funds — a result of strong local collaboration.  WFFT-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Clyde Theatre will host its Sounds of the Season Concert Series featuring world-class acts—Heather Headley on December 7, Kenny G on December 5, Jane Lynch on December 10, and Chris Isaak on December 18. From November 1 to December 1, donation drop-off points for new, unwrapped toys will support local families with vouchers for a December 26 performance.  WFFT-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, a Fort Wayne-based apprenticeship training provider was named among 12 statewide organizations sharing in a $1.2 million grant that will support the Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway, a program that partners schools and industries to offer high school students paid apprenticeships beginning fall. The organization will share $100,000 to develop detailed plans—an effort modeled on a Swiss system that aims to train 50,000 Hoosiers by 2034—ensuring the program meets local workforce needs.  The Journal Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Northwest Allen County Schools Superintendent Wayne Barker said the district proposed a property tax referendum to help fix an annual funding gap of over 8 million dollars and improve pay and staffing. Voting will take place on November 4th at Christ's Hope Church, Crossbridge Community Church and Resurrection Lutheran Church, and median homeowners will see a net tax rise of about 152 dollars per year if the measure passes.  WFFT-TV
  • The Fort Wayne City Council approved a $9 million project to improve Illinois Road and add a trail that is two miles long and 10 feet wide—construction will start in the spring and finish late in 2027.  US 93.3

SPORTS NEWS

  • Purdue University Fort Wayne announced it will add up to 13 club sports in fall 2026, including men’s and women’s soccer, tackle football, women’s flag football, and rugby. Campus Recreation will manage the sports—helping athletes keep playing and connect with teams across the region.  US 93.3
