- ➤ Bishop Dwenger High School broke ground on a $6.5 million career academy addition that will expand dual credit and certification programs in biomedical, engineering, construction, entrepreneurship, and welding — the 14,000-square-foot facility is expected to be ready for students next August. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, Sherman Boulevard between West State Boulevard and Spring Street on Fort Wayne’s northwest side is closed at 8 a.m. for a water main repair—northbound drivers will detour via Spring Street, Wells Street, and West State Boulevard while southbound drivers will use West State Boulevard, Wells Street, and Spring Street, and residents can still access their homes until the repair ends late afternoon. 21Alive
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Lutheran Health Network is extending imaging hours on November 8 in Fort Wayne for lung cancer screenings in honor of National Lung Cancer Screening Day — the effort aims to catch lung cancer early and improve survival rates. WFFT-TV
- ➤ Meridian Health is hosting an open house today at its new clinic on 2020 McKinnie Avenue at the Village Premier campus where people can meet care providers, learn about health services, and get free food. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. with local officials attending. US 93.3

- ➤ Hockey season opened at Thunder Ice Arena when the Fort Wayne Komets played an exhibition game against the Iowa Heartlanders—fans watched as the Heartlanders won 5-2 while Komets goalie Conner Ungar made key saves.
