  • Erin’s House for Grieving Children hosted its 20th annual Wine for the Spirit fundraiser on October 3 at the Don Wolf Center at Do it Best and GE Club of Electric Works in downtown Fort Wayne—raising $400,000 to support free grief services for youth and families. The funds will help provide ongoing support to those coping with loss.  Around Fort Wayne
  • Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control announced that its Paws and Run 5K—held last weekend at Buckner Park—raised over $3,000 for the Angel Fund that provides medical care for shelter animals. The organization said it will host Howl-O-Walkoween on Oct 18 at the Promenade Park pavilion to support its humane education and outreach programs.  21Alive

  • The Allen County Board of Commissioners announced that nominations for the Linda & Jerry Vandeveer Impact Award are now accepted, with submissions due by 11:59 p.m. on October 31—nominations honor residents who have shown outstanding service beyond their regular jobs and will be reviewed for an award press conference in November.  Around Fort Wayne
