- ➤ The Embassy Theatre announced that tree sponsorships are open and tickets for the 41st annual Festival of Trees are on sale for an event running from November 26 through December 3. It will offer extended hours on November 26 from 3 to 9 p.m.—allowing early visits before downtown Night of Lights begin—and sensory-friendly hours on November 30 from 9 to 11 a.m. US 93.3
- ➤ The Skyline YMCA in downtown Fort Wayne announced it will change its name and offer 24-hour access to members—an update meant to improve local services. 21Alive
- ➤ The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne said Monday that its downtown facility has been renamed the Weigand Family YMCA and will offer 24-hour access for members aged 18 and older at an additional $4.99 a month in late November — a change made possible by a donation from the Weigand family. 21Alive
- ➤ The American Red Cross shared fire safety tips ahead of Fire Prevention Week to help Fort Wayne residents protect their homes from potential hazards—official guidance aims to reduce risks and prepare families for emergencies. 21Alive

- ➤ Fort Wayne Community School Career Academy on Barr Street will host the 79th WOWO Fire Drill on October 8 to mark Fire Prevention Week. The event will cover lithium-ion battery safety and highlight students building local fire safety tools—helping raise community safety awareness. WOWO
- ➤ Northwest Allen County Schools teachers will receive higher salaries under a new one-year contract pending voters’ approval on November 4—raise amounts could reach up to $3,000 for teachers employed as of Feb. 1. The proposal increases the minimum base salary to $47,000 and raises maximum thresholds for educators with bachelor’s and master’s degrees while addressing the pay gap between new and experienced staff. - ➤ Indiana is finishing a new waste plan to replace decades-old disposal rules; the project is led by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and British firm Eunomia and may include recycling rules, food waste diversion measures and a fee on landfilled waste. - ➤ Residents in Fort Wayne can safely dispose of hazardous household waste like gasoline, automotive fluids and oil-based paints at Tox Saturday on October 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 2260 Carroll Road — the first 60 pounds is free while extra material incurs a fee and only cash or check is accepted amid caution due to nearby construction on Lima Road. - ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that the ramp from U.S. 30 to southbound I-69 in Fort Wayne will close on or after Oct. 11 for concrete patching and joint repair work and is expected to last two weeks—drivers should use Exit 311B on S.R. 3/Lima Road to access southbound I-69 as an alternate route while work remains weather dependent. 21Alive
