  • The City of Fort Wayne and the Packard Area Planning Alliance marked progress on the Packard 2030 Neighborhood Plan and the renovation of Packard Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—local residents enjoyed free food, music, games and a resource fair.  21Alive
  • Fort Wayne Metro Firefighters IAFF Local 124 held their annual Memorial Remembrance Ceremony Saturday at the Fort Wayne-Allen County Police and Fire Memorial on North Wells Street, posting colors, playing patriotic music, and honoring fallen firefighters. The event marks the start of National Fire Prevention Week—today kicking off a weeklong initiative to promote fire safety in the community.  21Alive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Indiana Youth Institute teamed with Girl Scouts of Indiana to release the 2025 Indiana Girl Report that shows nearly 92% of girls graduated last year while fewer reported prolonged sadness, though many still face eating and mental health issues. Tami Silverman said youth-serving professionals and community leaders must work together—her call for action underscores the report’s warning—so support can improve girls’ well-being.  WFFT-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sgt. David Ploog, who joined the Indiana State Police aviation wing three years ago after his Army flying experience, now supports law enforcement across the state. The team operates five aircraft out of Greenwood—each reaching every county within an hour—to assist with crime fighting, search and rescue, and emergency missions.  WFFT-TV

  • Cornhuskers competed in the Indiana State Corn Husking Contest in Nappanee on Saturday—top finishers advanced to nationals as seasoned and new shuckers put their skills to the test.
