  • The Pennsylvania Produce Terminal Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places — a designation that honors an important part of Fort Wayne history.  WFFT-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Marissa Massey, a Fort Wayne Community Schools teacher at Arlington STEM Elementary, has been nominated for Teacher Honor Roll — her return to teaching brought contagious energy and renewed passion for second grade. She resumed her career after renewing her license and quickly became a bright influence on her students and colleagues.  The Journal Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Saturday, September 28th, Fort Wayne hosted a Dystonia Zoo Day at the local zoo to raise awareness for dystonia—a disorder that causes involuntary muscle contractions and abnormal movements. Organizers collected donations for research by the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation and Fort Wayne was one of 10 cities participating during Dystonia Awareness Month.  WOWO

  • St. Francis won its homecoming game against Defiance by 37—34, and the Cougars improved to a 3—1 record while Defiance dropped to 2—2.  WFFT-TV
  • Garrett Hawkins of the Fort Wayne TinCaps was named Padres MiLB Pitcher of the Year after returning from Tommy John Surgery on April 5 — he set a team record for scoreless innings and posted strong stats — making him the third player in a row to earn the honor.  21Alive
