  • WOWO announced Breastie Boxes was selected as the 78th annual Penny Pitch recipient on September 23rd—this program gives funding for local initiatives. The selection will help Breastie Boxes continue its work in the community.  WOWO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Concordia Lutheran High School celebrated the groundbreaking today for its largest renovations and additions project supported by a $34 million capital campaign, with $12 million left to raise from donors and foundations. The first phase will add a three-story academic wing, renovate the main entrance and update heating, ventilation — setting the stage for future improvements to the chapel and lobby.  The Journal Gazette
  • A South Side High School teacher shared details of a shopping spree with fellow educators on September 23, explaining how the outing provided a welcome break and boosted morale among the staff+ the event underscored a spirit of teamwork at the school.  21Alive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Mike Braun is asking for people to apply for three Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission jobs as two commissioners leave and the chair stays until a replacement is chosen—applications opened Tuesday and are due by Oct. 14 with interviews to follow. Citizens Action Coalition has launched an affordability campaign to address rising utility bills that have burdened ratepayers.  The Journal Gazette
  • Citilink overcame a $2.5 million deficit last year and now has a balanced budget for 2026 after CEO John Metzinger presented the plan to City Council Tuesday night — he cited fare hikes, increased ridership, federal funds, and potential union deals to cut costs. The council approved the roughly $20 million budget and will hold the final vote on Oct. 14 while Citilink remains hopeful for a boost in state funding in the future.  The Journal Gazette
