- ➤ Erin’s House for Grieving Children held its first-ever Healing Heart Hustle 5K at Shoaff Park on Sunday. The remembrance run and walk honored loved ones and raised funds for children and families in northeast Indiana —replacing the former Lights of Love holiday memorial— as it continues its mission of healing. 21Alive
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Fort Wayne hosted Culture Fest on Clay and Berry Streets on September 14 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. where community members enjoyed live music, dancing, an artisan market, food and children’s activities. The event served as the kickoff for Amani Family Service’s Welcoming Week—which will run until September 20. WOWO

- ➤ East Noble School Corp teacher Ryan Pepple uses facility dog Didi—trained in over 45 skills—to boost physical activity in adaptive PE classes for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Didi helps keep balloons in the air, holds jump ropes and carries hockey sticks while motivating all students to participate. The Journal Gazette

- ➤ Today the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer raised over $1 million for research at IU School of Medicine, which will help scientists improve ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent breast cancer at Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center.
