- ➤ Alex Babich became the world record holder for the tallest sunflower when Guinness World Records measured his plant, Clover, at 35 feet and 9 inches on September 3. Babich—who began gardening seven years ago—thanked the Fort Wayne community for its support. 21Alive
- ➤ Fort Wayne will host Culture Fest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Clay and Berry Streets — the event will have live music, dance, an artisan market, a resource fair, a food truck, and children’s activities. 21Alive

- ➤ An investigation is underway after 33 animals were rescued from a Columbia City home on Tuesday—seven dogs, 24 cats and two guinea pigs were removed by the Whitley County Humane Society Animal Shelter working with the sheriff's and health departments—and the shelter is pausing new animal intake due to overcapacity. 21Alive

- ➤ Northwest Allen County Schools plans a $50.6 million career center that will give Carroll High students access to nearly 30 career and technical education programs if voters approve the Nov. 4 referendum. The facility is projected for the 2027-28 school year near Carroll and is designed with flexible spaces — to adapt to future program needs. The Journal Gazette

- ➤ The City of Fort Wayne announced that Engle Road—between Ardmore Avenue and Bluffton Road near the railroad tracks—is closed for emergency repairs by Norfolk Southern and will reopen by the end of day Wednesday, September 17; a detour using Ardmore Avenue, Nuttman Avenue, Brooklyn Avenue and Bluffton Road will be posted. - ➤ Voting groups have pushed back against Indiana’s new redistricting plan — they claim the new maps might limit voter fairness and prompt legal challenges before the changes take effect. 21Alive
