- ➤ Jurors today found 32-year-old Jermard J. Lewis guilty of fatally stabbing longtime Kroger cashier Perla A. Nieto at the Waynedale grocery store on Bluffton Road during a busy shift on Dec. 7, 2023—he now faces 45 to 65 years in prison with sentencing set for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 23. The Journal Gazette
- ➤ Detric L. Cummings, a Fort Wayne man with a violent criminal record that includes attempted robbery and prior shootings, pleaded guilty to drug distribution and was convicted of armed drug trafficking and firearms possession before being sentenced to 35 years in prison after selling meth, cocaine, and fentanyl to an undercover officer.
