- ➤ Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control is waiving fees for all adoptable cats during the Purrs and Cuddles Adoption Event — with 67 listed online and over 200 in foster care with more arriving daily — to help locals find new furry friends. US 93.3
- ➤ Brewer Park reopened on Wednesday, September 3rd when Mayor Sharon Tucker and Parks and Recreation officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil new playgrounds for preschool and elementary kids, a splash pad, a pavilion with restrooms, a ¼ mile walking path and basketball courts. The park now also features improved landscaping—an art garden with an I am Allen sculpture that marks Allen County’s bicentennial. US 93.3
- ➤ Grabill Country Fair kicked off Thursday in a northeast Indiana Amish community—offering buggy rides, watermelon and donut eating contests, and a cherry spit pit for weekend fun. 21Alive

- ➤ Markle police said an infant died after being bitten by a dog at a Markle home on Thursday night—medics rushed the infant to Lutheran Hospital but the child could not be saved. 21Alive
- ➤ John D. Miller—convicted of abusing and killing 8-year-old April Tinsley more than 30 years ago—died at 66 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after serving an 80-year sentence following DNA evidence linking him to the case. 21Alive
- ➤ Fort Wayne man Detric L. Cummings, 43, was sentenced to 420 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl and being convicted of armed drug trafficking and firearms violations—documents show he sold drugs to an undercover officer between July and August and a search at his property seized six firearms and additional drugs.
