- ➤ Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control is holding its Purrs and Cuddles Adoption Event and is offering fee-waived adoptions for all cats and kittens from September 3 through September 12. The shelter has 67 adoptable cats (listed on its website) and over 200 in foster care (awaiting pick-up) as it works to find new furry friends for the community. Around Fort Wayne
- ➤ Community members and city leaders cut the ribbon at Brewer Park to mark the completion of a $2.6-million renovation that added two playgrounds, a splash pad, a covered pavilion, a walking path, basketball courts, and landscaping upgrades—benefiting families and kids. - ➤ On September 3, 2025, at 7:00 a.m., an FWPD officer spotted a White Tahoe matching a reported stolen vehicle and pulled behind it at Lake and Reed—the vehicle fled east, hit another car near Lake and Old Maysville Rd, and later struck trees, pinning the adult female suspect who died at a local hospital. - ➤ A trial began yesterday in Fort Wayne for a man accused of stabbing a Kroger employee in 2023—he now faces serious charges as his case moves to court. 21Alive
- ➤ Indiana State Police is investigating after an inmate attempted suicide at Allen County Jail on Aug. 29—jail staff gave immediate care and paramedics later took the inmate to a hospital where they remain in critical but stable condition. 21Alive

- ➤ Indiana’s Statewide Historic Preservation Conference will take place in Fort Wayne at the Grand Wayne Convention Center from September 30 to October 3—more than 250 attendees will join 24 expert sessions on topics such as downtown revitalization and Native American culture preservation. Local leaders including Mayor Sharon Tucker and representatives of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma will welcome participants. WFFT-TV

- ➤ The Hoosier Lottery said that a $2 million winning Powerball ticket was sold at the B.K.D. Marathon on E. Coliseum Boulevard over the weekend — the Saturday, Aug. 30 drawing had winning numbers 3-18-22-27-33 with Powerball 17 and Power Play 3X — and the winner is to contact customer service for claim instructions. 21Alive
- ➤ Fort Wayne opened its first application period yesterday for opioid settlement funding to help families affected by addiction. The National Opioid Settlement Committee will review applications and recommend funding by the end of October—supporting Mayor Tucker’s people-first programs. WOWO
