  • Humane Fort Wayne is hosting its One Year Anni-FUR-sary Adoption Event this Saturday—community members can learn more about adopting a pet as the organization marks a year of service.  21Alive

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fort Wayne firefighters rescued a child and several pets from a house on Spring Street at around 1 p.m. on Monday—investigators determined that improperly discarded smoking materials outside started the blaze.  US 93.3

CRIME NEWS

  • Fort Wayne police responded to a barricaded man on the 1400 block of Kitch Street on Monday at 3:30 p.m.—officers took him into custody just before 7:00 p.m. for a mental health evaluation, and no one was injured.  US 93.3
  • Fort Wayne police arrested two juveniles—a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old—in connection with a Bowser Avenue shooting that critically wounded an adult male on August 23, with the suspects taken into custody on August 28 and now facing charges of attempted murder and burglary at the Allen County Juvenile Center.  WFFT-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fort Wayne's WOWO is celebrating 100 years of broadcasting by hosting two exclusive live events at its new studios inside The Mic at Coventry. Fans can join a brunch event with Glenn Beck on October 17 from 12:30 p.m.—3:30 p.m. or an event with Clay Travis and Buck Sexton on October 22 from 3:00 p.m.—6:00 p.m.; tickets are extremely limited.  WOWO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Attorney Malak Heiny responded Tuesday to a letter from Councilmen Russell Jehl and Scott Myers asking for new ways to help Fort Wayne’s homeless population, saying the city is working to remove downtown encampments and connect people with needed treatment for substance use and mental health issues. She said Fort Wayne will present plans for a low-to zero-barrier day shelter and more overnight and permanent housing options to City Council on Sept. 9—extra clean-up work will need added resources.  21Alive
  • Fort Wayne city officials are expanding efforts to address homelessness by increasing encampment clean-ups and offering supportive services—30 clean-ups have cost $76,000 since 2024. The city will add a low-to-zero barrier day shelter and evaluate more shelter beds while providing an update to the City Council on September 9th.  WFFT-TV

  • Parkview Regional Medical Center marked its 25th anniversary as a verified Level II trauma center on Sept.2 — the reverified adult and pediatric units confirmed its readiness to treat serious injuries — and has served over 30 counties with emergency care and outreach since 1989.  Around Fort Wayne
