- ➤ On Monday, Fort Wayne firefighters rescued a child and several pets from a house fire on the 2600 block of Spring Street just after 1 p.m.—the child was uninjured and investigators determined that improperly discarded smoking materials started the fire. 21Alive

- ➤ Police responded to a barricaded person in a home on Fort Wayne’s southeast side Monday evening in the 1400 block of Kitch Street—residents were asked to avoid the area. 21Alive

- ➤ The application window for local opioid settlement funds opens today for individuals and families to overcome opioid addiction and will close at midnight on Oct. 2—managed by the National Opioid Settlement Committee created by Mayor Sharon Tucker and the City Council. 21Alive
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Purdue Fort Wayne has installed a permanent, secure drop-off for unused medications outside the police office on its main campus — anyone can now safely dispose of drugs, with collected items sent to the Indiana State Police for proper disposal.
