  • Hoffmaster Group in Fort Wayne announced it will permanently close its facility, affecting 53 workers in roles like engineering and management—The company filed a WARN notice with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development and will provide separation and COBRA benefits as layoffs are set for Oct. 3 and Nov. 7.  WFFT-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Fiesta Fort Wayne 2025 brings a celebration of culture, food, and music to Headwaters Park Lincoln Pavilion—featuring authentic flavors and folklore performances. Admission is $5 before 5 p.m. and $7 after, and 60% of proceeds will support local non-profits while children under 10 enter free.  WFFT-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • East Allen County Schools will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Southwick Elementary School on August 26 at 1 p.m. at 4808 East Paulding Road—Superintendent Marilyn Hissong, School Board President Tim Hines, and Principal Dustin Beucler will speak at the event in the Paul Harding/Southeast community.  WFFT-TV
  • Scott Academy in southeast Fort Wayne jumped from low literacy levels to a Top 5 ranking statewide after restructuring classes for focused reading instruction and support, raising third grade pass rates to 90% from as low as 42% in past years — administrators credited strong teaching methods and community support for the improvement.  The Journal Gazette

  • Lake Avenue will be closed from Reed Road to Lakehurst Drive from August 26 to August 28 for NIPSCO utility work, and the City of Fort Wayne Public Works Division says drivers will follow a detour (via Reed Road, East State Boulevard, and Maplecrest Road).  WFFT-TV

  • Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker and developer Jerry Starks broke ground on Phase II of Roosevelt Reserves on August 21st — a project that adds 30 new single-family lots to a 131-lot subdivision aimed at expanding housing options in Southeast Fort Wayne.  Around Fort Wayne
