- ➤ City officials announced that Open Streets Fort Wayne will offer over 100 free activities on the newly paved Calhoun corridor for biking, walking and playing on Sunday, August 17 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Public Works and the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory will give away free ice cream samples, backpacks and admission tickets + live music and kid-friendly events are also planned. - ➤ Authorities confirmed that two Fort Wayne residents died at their Morrow Way home on Sunday—Toni Lynn Ott, 45, was killed by a gunshot wound and James Derek Moreno, 47, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. WFFT-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Data shows gunfire was heard near Indiana schools 2,771 times between 2015 and 2024 in cities such as Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Gary — leaving students and teachers alarmed.
