- ➤ Firefighters responded to a house fire on Kentucky Avenue at around 5:00 p.m. Saturday and finished putting out the blaze within 20 minutes — after which they discovered that the homeowners’ three dogs had passed away. WANE 15

- ➤ Fort Wayne Police charged Newton Arnold—connected to an alleged dogfighting ring—with 14 counts for purchasing or possessing an animal for fighting and one count for possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon after recovering 22 dogs and puppies from the operation where Trevel Bell was arrested on Tuesday, and the rescued animals are cared for by Humane World for Animals. - ➤ Fort Wayne’s PBS station said that its planned upgrade to the emergency warning system is now on hold after the Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced its shutdown less than two weeks after a bill cut $1.1 billion from the agency — Ed Leon said the station is actively fundraising as donors show support. - ➤ On Saturday at 10 a.m., the West Central Fire District honored its new 2025 Freightliner tanker at the Arcola Fire Station with a traditional wet-down & push-in ceremony. Fire Chief Gale Stelzer II, firefighters & community members celebrated the apparatus, now named Tanker 84, which has a 3000 gallon water tank, meets the latest safety standards, & cost $424,912 funded by a federal grant to better serve Aboite & Lake Townships. 21Alive
