  • Powers Hamburgers is hosting its annual Powers Fest and the event will continue through Wednesday—local residents are invited to join the celebration.  21Alive
  • Kate’s Kart reached a milestone by giving away its 500,000th book, which brings hope to children in Fort Wayne & includes leukemia patient Dominic Durnell. The program & its founders plan to expand into Ohio & southern Indiana and expect to give away one million books soon.  WANE 15
  • The Fort Wayne Lawn Bowls Club will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Fort Wayne Curling Club—3837 N. Wells Street to begin construction of a new bowling green. CRIME NEWS

  • Fort Wayne police said 39-year-old Jamarcus Williams was sought after a Saturday morning shooting that critically injured a man on Weisser Park Avenue—officers arrested him Monday in the 400 block of S Calhoun Street and he now faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with the victim in life-threatening condition.  WOWO

  • The Allen County Public Library’s Genealogy Center is teaming with Electric Works and Chapman's Brewing Company to host Genealogy Trivia Night on July 24 at 7:30 p.m. at The Neon Pear, where participants will register for free + the first 10 teams will receive cocktail coupons.  Around Fort Wayne
  • Dance Promenade returned to the Promenade Park pavilion Monday night with a Caribbean theme as participants practiced Jamaican, Merengue, Samba, Salsa and Cumbia from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.—walk-in tickets were sold for $12 after registration closed, and a final summer session on August 18 will feature pop and K-Pop dances.  WANE 15

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On July 1, Indiana passed a law that requires bar bouncers who check IDs to get employee permits like other alcohol servers. Several Fort Wayne bars are reviewing the new rule as officials explain the change.  WANE 15
  • The Bluffton Road Bridge project starts today with a one-lane traffic configuration—only one direction of travel is allowed—and drivers are advised to use alternate routes as red lights run longer until construction ends in October.  21Alive
