  • Three Brightpoint staff members Amber Morgan, Andrea Freeze and Rachel Bryant received awards from the Jobs for America’s Graduates Indiana program on July 10 for their dedication to serving youth + Brightpoint President Steve Hoffman commended their efforts, noting the program’s role in supporting local students.  Around Fort Wayne
  • The St. Joe Pickle Festival returns and will run from July 17 to July 19 at 6127 IN-1 in St. Joe—Festival President Christine Weirauch said the event is designed to offer local pickle experiences.  WANE 15
  • Pontiac Street Market will host its Pack to School event on August 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 918 E.   • Fort Wayne police are searching for 39-year-old Jamarcus Williams after a shooting on the 2500 block of Weisser Park Avenue led to charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery, and they urge anyone with information to call 9-1-1.  Around Fort Wayne

  • The Fort Wayne Philharmonic said Music Director Andrew Constantine has entered the final two years of his contract—he has led the group since 2009. The orchestra will mark his legacy with new shows as it prepares to move into its new downtown home.  Around Fort Wayne

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • INDOT announced that work will begin today on the southbound lane repair on U.S. 27 and on a bridge on State Road 930 with each project expected to last about two weeks. Access between State Road 3 and Cedar Canyons Rd will close until the end of August — drivers are urged to seek alternate routes as all work is weather dependent.  US 93.3
  • The West Central Fire Protection District will host a wet-down and push-in ceremony on August 2 at 10:00 a.m.—the event will introduce the new 2025 Freightliner tanker truck, Tanker 84, at the Arcola Fire Station located at 11329 Railroad Street. Fire Chief Gale Stelzer II said the tanker features a 3,000-gallon water tank, meets new emissions standards, and was funded by a federal grant.  Around Fort Wayne
  • The Allen County Ethics Commission will meet virtually on July 25 at 11:00 a.m. from Conference Room 1 (Suite 410 of Citizen Square) to review minutes from January 10 and consider proposed changes to the ethics ordinance.  Around Fort Wayne

  • Lutheran Health Network is opening its new 15,700-square-foot medical facility at 1215 Healthcare Place in southwest Fort Wayne today with community tours starting at 4 p.m. The building has seven physician offices, lab services, imaging, and x-rays + 24 exam rooms with a waiting area for 70 patients.  WANE 15
