Davis Jr. of Fort Wayne was found guilty on Friday of charges including felony murder, robbery causing serious injury, battery by a deadly weapon & resisting law enforcement during a four-day trial for the shooting death of Travis Gilbert during a drug deal on Sept.15, 2023, and he now faces up to 123½ years in prison. - ➤ The Allen County Courthouse is undergoing repairs this summer for its historic scagliola and ironworks, with English artist Neil Wiffill—who has maintained the building for over 25 years—fixing cracks and door frames at a total cost of $40,000. - ➤ The Fort Wayne Fire Department Merit Commission approved a plan to hire 40 new firefighters, with 15 EMT-certified recruits set to start training in December and become full-time in February—25 others will begin training in December and finish by May.
