  • Fort Wayne residents can shop local at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory’s Summer Artisan Market next weekend—attendees can visit from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 29.  WANE 15
  • Nearly two years after a ribbon cutting on July 26th—when local volunteers and leaders raised funds to build H-Town Pickleball at Huntertown Family Park—players now use six courts, a paddle system and a pavilion to meet and play.  WANE 15
  • Kilo Santana hosted the first Kilo’s Community Function at Renaissance YMCA on Sunday, where residents received free pizza, chips, drinks, haircuts and lineups to ease stress in the community—he plans to grow the event in the future.  21Alive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kroger announced its first quarter earnings on Friday and revealed plans to close 60 stores over the next 18 months, without naming which locations may include some local Fort Wayne stores. The company said it will offer roles in other stores to employees from affected locations as it reinvests savings into customer experience.  WANE 15

EDUCATION NEWS

  • About 350 Fort Wayne Community Schools students visited Fort Financial Credit Union (Lima Road) last month as part of the 3DE by Junior Achievement (hands-on learning) program, where they met workers, played trivia, and learned about budgeting and banking. This field trip helped students explore real-world financial skills before they begin planning their futures.  The Journal Gazette

  • The National Weather Service warns that very hot and humid conditions with heat indices between 100 and 105 will continue through Tuesday with little relief overnight and the possibility of strong storms Tuesday evening.
