  • On June 12, Fort Wayne Fire Department crews responded to a building fire at the 600 block of South Calhoun Street after reports of smoke and a police incident led five occupants to self-evacuate—firefighters quickly found and extinguished a small blaze in an unused elevator shaft with only minor damage and no injuries.  WOWO

  • Jurors today found Nicholas Steward, 25, guilty on all counts for a party shooting in August 2023 that left 23-year-old Mattie Marie Wilson dead and three others injured — his sentencing is set for Aug. 15 in Allen Superior Court as he faces up to 127 1/2 years in prison.  The Journal Gazette

  • A report by the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana said Indiana homeowners paid about $412 more in insurance from 2021 to 2024, marking a 16% rise with a slightly higher 16.5% increase in the Indianapolis metro—nonpayment and nonrenewals have led to policy cancellations as high as 16.7% in some counties.  The Journal Gazette
