  • Fort Wayne officers responded Monday night to rescue a group of kittens from the 3300 block of West Coliseum Boulevard but returned Tuesday after reports of faint meows when one kitten dashed into a storm drain; an FWACC officer reached the kitten after police lifted the heavy storm grate—ensuring the small animal was safely retrieved.  WOWO
  • The Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne received an 11-acre land donation from the Lutheran Foundation on Wednesday for Lutheran Park near its Fairfield Avenue location—decided after a discussion that began with a grant request to maintain the park instead of selling the property to developers.  21Alive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Teamsters Union launched a campaign to protest GM’s decision to stop using union auto haulers for moving pickups from Fort Wayne Assembly and other plants—UAW Local 2209 supports the union while GM has not yet provided a comment.  21Alive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The East Central Forward neighborhood plan received unanimous approval Tuesday—marking a major step in revitalizing the area—and will be signed by Mayor Sharon Tucker as part of the All In Allen Comprehensive Plan. The plan involved input from over 420 residents and aims to improve safety, housing, connectivity, public art, and the trail network.  WFFT-TV
  • At the June 3 meeting, the council reviewed SB 1 and HB 1461 with Andrew Downs explaining that the bills allow Fort Wayne to explore a local income tax and more flexible road funding starting in Fiscal Year 2028—both decisions could shape local revenue and services. The council also approved a contract with Dayforce Services US LLC to replace the current timekeeping system before UKG stops hosting it Dec. 31.  Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly
  • On Tuesday, June 10th, Mayor Tucker announced that 22 local non-profit programs received about $380,000 in CDBG & ESG funds to help low- and moderate-income residents with shelter, basic needs, job training, and youth services. The funds were awarded through a competitive process by the Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services & a volunteer committee that reviewed applications and scored proposals.  US 93.3
  • Fort Wayne City Council approved $3.5 million on Tuesday to refurbish the Murray Street building at 335 E. Murray St so Public Works can consolidate key divisions including a new technical test lab, the Right of Way Landscaping Department, and the Bridge and Levee Maintenance Department. The project is expected to finish next year as the old Lafayette facility is demolished to create green space — a move that modernizes essential services.  The Journal Gazette
