- ➤ Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker and officials from the U.S. Conference of Mayors & American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America joined area youth at Johnnie Mae Farm on Friday to launch the Plant, Pick & Plate program that teaches healthy gardening and cooking to students in grades five to nine. - ➤ Kate’s Kart is marking its 17th year by providing free books to children in hospitals and has grown to 45 karts in 25 hospitals across northeast Indiana while nearing the giveaway of its 500,000th book this summer. - ➤ A 38-year-old Fort Wayne man who pleaded guilty but mentally ill to attempted murder for stabbing his pregnant girlfriend in 2023 was sentenced Monday to 40 years in prison—Judge David Zent also recommended mental health treatment while he is incarcerated. 21Alive
- ➤ Fort Wayne police arrested William Britt after he admitted to driving the alleged shooter, Devon Stewart, to the home of 86-year-old Alice Hall where she was shot through an exterior door around 1:50 a.m. on June 1 — surveillance footage and witness accounts support the arrest. WFFT-TV
