ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a house fire on the northwest side on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. on Franklin Ave near Spring St and quickly controlled the blaze in about 15 minutes while saving two cats and confirming no one was hurt.  21Alive
  • At about 11:15 p.m. Sunday night, firefighters responded to a call reporting flames from a retail building on the 5000 block of Decatur Road—crews took over half an hour to put out the fire which caused moderate fire and water damage plus minor smoke damage—officials are investigating the cause.  WANE 15

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chick-fil-A is opening today at 4773 Dupont Road on Fort Wayne's north side with a play area for children and a promotion for guests in cow print accessories — the restaurant will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except Sunday.  WOWO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nearly 200 educators will gather at Purdue Fort Wayne beginning Tuesday for a four-day conference hosted by the Management and Organizational Behavior Teaching Society that will include over 100 sessions to share new ideas for classroom teaching.  The Journal Gazette

  • Today, the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission meets at 4:00 p.m. in conference room 030 at 200 East Berry Street to review a TIF Summary presentation and resolutions on collecting tax revenue from real property in Tax Allocation Areas — funding elevator modernization at the Civic Center Parking Garage and a feasibility study for improving pedestrian circulation along St. Joseph Boulevard.  Around Fort Wayne
  • Today the City invites Waynedale residents to share ideas for the 2040 Plan at free events with free food for the first 100 participants (Waynedale Park shelter, 2900 Koonz St.; Psi Ote Park shelter, 3500 Wenonah Lane; The Stand, 5200 Bluffton Rd.; Willow Creek Crossing Apartments Clubhouse, 7501 Lakeridge Dr.). The plan will guide future growth by addressing historic preservation, economic development, housing, public safety and other community topics with input from 24 neighborhood associations.  US 93.3
