- ➤ After a battery attack at Pike’s Pub that some call racially motivated, James Simmons told police on Thursday and later spoke with reporters—he urged action to prevent future violence and was joined by Pastor Carlton Lynch who called for the bar to be held accountable as officials work with the FBI. 21Alive
- ➤ A Fort Wayne man was found guilty in his second trial for neglect that led to his 17-month-old daughter's death and will face up to 80 years in prison when sentencing is scheduled in July. The Journal Gazette

- ➤ GermanFest at Headwaters Park began on June 5 and will last until June 8, offering food, music, dancing, family fun and beer. The event runs Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free admission until 3 p.m. on the first three days and free entry on Sunday—shuttle services run every 15—20 minutes. Mike Braun signed Senate Enrolled Act 520 into law yesterday at the Veteran's National Memorial Shrine and Museum—exempting the site from a $100,000 fee and allowing a columbarium to store funeral urns for veterans.
