  • Fort Wayne residents will join the fourth annual We Carry Kevin Walk-Run-Roll on Saturday morning at Shoaff Park to raise $35,000 for carrier backpacks for people in need worldwide; the event starts at 10 a.m. with the walk-run-roll beginning at 10:30 a.m.-a pancake breakfast will follow.  21Alive

  • Be Better Hospitality announced it will open Bittersweet, a coffee and deli concept, at The Landing in downtown Fort Wayne this summer; it will replace Utopian Coffee + Kitchen at 118 W Columbia Street, offering pastries, sandwiches, and coffee from the team behind Penny Drip, Dana’s, Night Train, and Blue Bottle.  21Alive

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Embassy Theatre announced its merger with Audiences Unlimited to expand arts access for all. Leaders said the groups will combine their over 50-year legacies—boosting community engagement and creating more art opportunities in the region.  US 93.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City of Fort Wayne will hold its Neighborhood Presidents meeting on June 2 at 6 p.m. at Citizens Square in the City Council Chambers+ neighborhood leaders are encouraged to register as active while speakers Chris Blauvelt and Alec Johnson update attendees on the Tall Grass/Weed program and current redevelopment projects.  US 93.3
  • Mayor Sharon Tucker’s office said the city council approved three new committees that will soon guide opioid settlement funds, mental health services & young adult engagement. The National Opioid Settlement Committee, Mayor’s Mental Health Commission, and Mayor’s Young Adult Council will each consist of seven appointed members.  21Alive
  • Fort Wayne has launched a Neighborhood Engagement Grant program to help local neighborhood associations host events that bring residents and businesses together. Applications are open until June 11 at 5 p.m. and winners will be announced by June 30 — grants range from $2,000 to $5,000 and are funded by a Special Opportunity Grant from Foellinger Foundation.  US 93.3
