  • Two Fort Wayne women aged 58 and 38 died after a train struck them Sunday night in Fremont, Ohio — a 14-month-old was hospitalized and a 5-year-old is missing — while police continue their investigation.  US 93.3
  • Two Fort Wayne women died after being struck by a train while fishing from a railway bridge over the Sandusky River in Fremont, Ohio on Sunday night at about 7:30 p.m.—officials say a 14-month-old was hospitalized and a 5-year-old is missing as drones and dive teams continue searching the river.  WOWO

CRIME NEWS

  • On Friday night, Fort Wayne police took 32-year-old Bianca Hernandez into custody after she barricaded herself in a southeast side home and swung a machete wildly during an argument with her child's father — officers eventually breached the door after repeated attempts to get her to exit voluntarily.  US 93.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department reopened the Lawton Park Pedestrian Bridge on May 16 to restore a key Rivergreenway connection near the Old Fort — the new steel and concrete design helps water flow better and lowers flood risk. City leaders said the $673,510 project was paid for by a local income tax approved by the City Council — improvements include a reshaped streambank and new native plants.  US 93.3

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Treeline District plan north of downtown Fort Wayne has been filed ahead of June's Plan Commission meeting and will transform the former Pepsi plant into a mixed-use development with apartments, retail, and a public parking garage offering 330 private spaces + 100 public spaces with an extra 60 along the street. The plan also includes multiple new buildings such as The Canopy, The Boathouse, and The Tree House as part of a broader redevelopment effort.  WANE 15
