  • Wellspring Interfaith Social Services is asking for community support to fund free summer camp for local children as current donations cover only 320 spots from over 500 applications.   • Fort Wayne Community Schools opened an accessible, sensory-friendly playground at Bunche Montessori on Friday, with community donations raising over $113,000 — far exceeding the $30,000 goal to support families with disabilities.  21Alive
  • Fort Wayne Community Schools honored its dedicated staff this week when 3rd-grade teacher Regan Jones, Hospitality teacher LaShawnda Martin, and bilingual case manager Paula Booth were named award winners for exemplary teaching and service + commitment to student success at Bloomingdale, South Side and Abbett Elementary Schools.  21Alive
  • The SACS Education Foundation held its first Start Smart Drive on Saturday at Homestead High School to collect school supplies and hygiene items needed to fill a school bus for students starting the 2026–27 school year (covering pre-K to 12th grade).   • Downtown Fort Wayne said Friday it is reviewing a proposed 24/7 homeless shelter on East Washington Boulevard near The Rescue Mission after Councilman Russ Jehl's concerns it could harm local businesses.
