CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Fort Wayne police responded Monday night at 9 p.m. to a call at a home on Stonebrook Place and found two victims with gunshot wounds, with the Allen County Coroner's Office identifying 45-year-old Leanne Lynn Gonzalez (homicide) and 48-year-old Sean Bronson Baer (suicide). 21Alive
- ➤ Fort Wayne police arrested 27 year old Tavon M. Underwood on Tuesday for murder, felony murder and robbery in connection with a 2017 homicide that killed Nicholas James Hennan — his co-defendant 26 year old Carlos D. Ellis was arrested April 14 and is set for a four-day trial on Aug. 5. The Journal Gazette

- ➤ Today at 3:30 p.m., Purdue University Fort Wayne will host the topping out ceremony for the Surack-Sweetwater Music Industry Building—a $25 million, 26,000-square-foot facility scheduled to open in fall 2026. Students, faculty and staff may sign a freshly painted piece of steel until noon while university and Weigand Construction representatives attend the event and after the beam is hoisted it will be decorated with an American flag. - ➤ Construction will resume on I-69 next week as INDOT begins alternating lane closures on the southbound lanes between Coldwater and Branstrator Roads. INDOT said the ramp to Lima Road will be closed for about a week — drivers should follow the alternate detour while repairs continue until November. 21Alive
- ➤ The Parnell Avenue Bridge will be closed for rehabilitation work beginning May 12 and is set to reopen September 18, so drivers should take alternate routes. Residents may meet the contractor from 6-7 p.m. today at the Northside Park Psi Ote Barn Lower Pavilion to ask questions about the project. US 93.3
- ➤ Indiana withdrew from the SUN Bucks summer food program on Feb. 20, leaving 669,000 children without last summer’s $120 monthly boost; free meals will still be offered at about 1,000 sites but rural families may find them harder to reach—critics call this step a giant leap backwards. WFFT-TV
