- ➤ Law enforcement agencies across Indiana will take to the rooftops of Dunkin' stores on May 16 to benefit Special Olympics Indiana. In Fort Wayne, officers will be at Dunkin' locations at 9821 Lima Road + 5405 E. Dupont Road from 5 a.m. to noon. WFFT-TV
- ➤ Fort Wayne community members joined the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, volunteering from 9 to 11 a.m. to clear public spaces and later celebrating at Headwaters Park as over 150,000 pounds of litter + waste were collected. WOWO

- ➤ Fort Wayne police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in which a male bicyclist was struck just after 4:30 a.m. Saturday near Lafayette and Williams streets — officers provided aid but he was later pronounced dead. The Journal Gazette

- ➤ University of Saint Francis elementary education majors Amelia Fowerbaugh and Grace Warner ended their sophomore year by contributing to the Indiana Learning Lab as the first pre-service teachers to lead teacher training for educators and administrators. Assistant professor Abigail Dutcher said their 45-minute session on open pedagogy and Brookside mansion lesson plan is now available for teachers to earn professional development points statewide. - ➤ Indiana gardeners are warned to check for invasive plants this spring as experts say that honeysuckle—one of the most common culprits—can be pulled out early while Bradford pear trees may need a trowel for removal. - ➤ Parnell Avenue Bridge will close May 12 for major rehabilitation work and will not reopen until Sept. 18. Drivers should take an alternate route—East State Boulevard, Crescent Avenue, North Anthony Boulevard and Coliseum Boulevard, and residents can attend a public meeting May 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Northside Park Psi Ote Barn Lower Pavilion to learn more about the project. - ➤ Fort Wayne announced plans for a $50 to $60 million sports facility on its 29-acre North River Property after Mayor Sharon Tucker unveiled the project in February. Local businessmen Chuck Surack and Daryle Doden offered $12 million to buy the land—though the city said it is not selling the property and will move forward with the facility. 21Alive
