  • Resurrection Lutheran Church held a grand opening of its new handicap-accessible playground and community park Sunday in Huntertown. The project, planned for 15 years with support from three foundations, offers families a safe space for children with disabilities to play and practice motor skills.  21Alive
  • Fort Wayne Zoo offers Sensory-Friendly Sundays every first Sunday each month with reduced noise on rides, dimmed lighting & no music to create a calmer environment; organizers said adjustments will be made for the Glo Wild lantern festival with fewer flashing lights and quieter displays through Oct. 4.  WOWO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Northern Indiana Public Service Company reached an agreement with the United Steelworkers to end a month-long lockout that affected over 1,600 workers & clerical employees will return to work Tuesday as operations resume fully.  WOWO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Northcrest Elementary, students received bike repairs and new bikes from Pedals-of-Hope during a weekend fix-up event to gear up for National Bike to School Day. Several schools will ride Wednesday with police support as middle schools join a weeklong challenge to promote safe walking and biking.  WOWO
  • The district announced that the 20% savings from the new Snider stadium budget are funding facility upgrades at North Side High—adding amenities on both visitor and home sides. Contract changes made on April 27 will allow these improvements to be ready for the fall athletic season.  The Journal Gazette

  • ISP Sergeant Adam Kitson was honored with a Life Saving Award after quickly helping a mother perform CPR on a three-month-old on I69 (near the 337 mile marker). His recognition took place at the Indiana State Police awards ceremony in Indianapolis on Tuesday, April 21.  Around Fort Wayne
