  • Authorities rescued 43 dogs from a DeKalb County home on Monday night after an anonymous tip about an animal hoarding situation, and investigators continue to review the case while Humane Fort Wayne prepares the dogs for adoption in coming weeks.  21Alive

  • Fort Wayne Community Schools announced on April 30 that Huntington University joined its Higher Education Coalition — now including eight local colleges — to offer guaranteed admission and tuition-free dual credit courses for qualifying students.  Around Fort Wayne

  • Hoosier Lottery said Wednesday’s Powerball drawing made 91 new millionaires, including Fort Wayne buyers who won at least $1 million, while five Indiana tickets with Power Play netted $2 million. A La Porte ticket split a $143 million prize & the jackpot will reset at $20 million for Saturday’s drawing.  21Alive

  • A Fort Wayne councilman warned that a proposed homeless services center in the downtown business district may impact local commerce — his comment was made on Apr. 30 as officials evaluate the plan.  WFFT-TV
  • During an April 16 town hall, state Sen. Liz Brown claimed that NACS restrooms posed safety risks and an $8 million deficit, sparking debate in her Senate primary race. NACS said its single-user restrooms improve supervision & that the funding gap only reflects state formulas.  WFFT-TV
