  • The Honor Flight brought together veterans from across Northeast Indiana on Wednesday, Apr. 22 to honor their service and sacrifices. Organizers said the event strengthened ties among military families and the local community.  21Alive
  • The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne received a $5,000,000 grant from Lilly Endowment Inc to fund facility improvements at Camp Potawotami and help secure matching funds for a new dining hall and expanded staff housing. Registration is open now for Summer 2026 sessions that offer week-long camp experiences for children ages 6 to 17 (this grant builds on a $1,000,000 award from December).  US 93.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today the University of Saint Francis announced a record $6 million planned endowment donation from local philanthropist Larry Lee & it will fund scholarships, the social justice center director position, and faculty development for teaching excellence in Fort Wayne.  The Journal Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, an urgent call to Soarin’ Hawk Rescue led volunteers to save a 4-wk-old bald eagle chick after its nest collapsed in Fort Wayne — the team built a new nest from an old tree house to return it to its parents in 24 hours.  21Alive

  • The I-69 on‐ramp will close overnight today, and officials warn that drivers may face delays + are encouraged to use alternate routes. The closure will affect commuters in Fort Wayne throughout the night.  21Alive
  • Indiana State Police gave a protective vest to K-9 Enzo, who patrols with Trooper Bryce Kanning in Fort Wayne after a donation from New Haven locals Kurt and Sherry Riecken and nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest is custom-fitted and NIJ certified.  21Alive
