EDUCATION NEWS

  • More than 400 schools across Indiana were honored by the Department of Education at the Statehouse on Wednesday for achieving a 95 percent or higher pass rate on the 2025 IREAD assessment.   • Governor Mike Braun suspended Indiana’s 7% gas tax for 30 days, expecting customers to save about 17 cents per gallon until May 8 + he urged retailers to lower prices for consumers.  US 93.3

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fort Wayne's Dupont Hospital is celebrating its 25th anniversary today—since opening in 2001, the facility has expanded to treat over 250,000 patients each year with 131 beds, 15 operating rooms, and a 24-hour Emergency Department.  21Alive
  • Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography has received a $39,999 grant from the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust to fund about 240 mammogram screenings for women in northeast Indiana. The mobile unit travels to 14 counties multiple days each week.  21Alive
  • Dupont Hospital celebrated its 25th anniversary today on Fort Wayne's north side, serving more than 258,000 patients and over 2,900 babies last year (the 131-bed facility has added a cardiac catheterization lab to boost local services).  The Journal Gazette
