  • Gas prices in Allen County reached $4.08 a gallon on Monday after a brief pause. Nationwide averages climbed to $4.14 as global oil tensions drive up costs, which may lead to higher fuel prices locally.  US 93.3
  • The Volunteer Center presented a symbolic $4M check representing 122,580 volunteer hours to the City of Fort Wayne today in celebration of National Volunteer Month, connecting volunteers to 148 local non-profits. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Allen County Public Library and Purdue Fort Wayne have partnered to offer bilingual story times (English/Spanish) for children. Sessions will take place at the library (for families) and are scheduled to begin this month.  21Alive
  • Carroll High School sophomore Arha Kureti + three other Allen County students will compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix from May 9 to May 15. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fort Wayne Police remind residents that electric two-wheel vehicles qualify as e-bikes only when they have pedals, a motor producing 750 watts or less and a top assisted speed of 28 mph. Vehicles that do not meet the criteria are treated as motorcycles and must be registered and operated by a licensed driver.  WOWO
  • The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission held a public listening session in Fort Wayne on Monday to review rising electric and gas utility costs, as local residents described confusing fees and billing practices. The commission said it will use feedback from statewide sessions to consider changes to pricing and billing.  WOWO
  • The Fort Wayne Fire Department debuted a new alert system to warn drivers and protect crews (launched yesterday) to boost safety on local roads.  21Alive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Matthew 25 Health and Care will invest about $15 million in a new, 32,000 sqft Beacon Street facility to expand services for uninsured, low-income adults. Construction will start by Dec. 31 + it will open in July 2028.  The Journal Gazette
