  • At Wednesday’s Women’s Fund Luncheon at Parkview Mirro Center, speakers shared a survey showing less than 10% of Allen County employers met pay standards for women, and urged improved wages to boost economic security.  The Journal Gazette
  • Five Northeast Indiana basketball teams won on Friday to advance to the NAIA second round action today, while a flood warning remains in effect for the Saint Joseph River near Newville where moderate flooding is expected until early Thursday morning.  WFFT-TV
  • Today, strong wind gusts up to 60 mph have left over 27,000 customers without power in Fort Wayne as tree limbs damage lines. Approximately 850 restoration crews are working safely and will resume repairs when conditions improve.  WOWO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Strong wind gusts of 40-60 mph knocked out power for over 7,000 I&M customers around 8:30 a.m. today as wet ground raised the risk of falling trees and limbs; the company said crews will restore power carefully as gusts continue.  The Journal Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fort Wayne's Department of Neighborhoods earned three planning awards from the Indiana Chapter of the American Planning Association. Michael Terronez received an Outstanding Young Planner award while the Packard 2030 plan and the High Street CPTED project were recognized for implementation (adding praise under Mayor Tucker).  WFFT-TV
  • Construction crews will resume improvements on Paulding Road on Monday, Mar. 16, replacing pavement between Fairfield and Hoagland Avenues and upgrading traffic signals at Paulding and Calhoun while adding medians, landscaping & sidewalks with completion expected mid-July. Drivers should follow posted detours and lane restrictions.  WFFT-TV
  • Crews are repairing potholes and ask residents in Fort Wayne to report them online or by calling 311. The department will respond within eight business hours and use a temporary cold patch until warmer weather allows an asphalt seal.  21Alive

  • A historic depot that houses PufferBelly Junction Ice Cream will be moved to a new downtown parking lot along the riverfront this year for utility line work as part of riverfront redevelopment (a $1.3 million contract was approved), and officials say the shop will reopen next year at the new site.  The Journal Gazette
