- ➤ Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana is hosting a Ribbon Walk on May 2 to support local families affected by cancer. The event will bring community members together in Fort Wayne to share in hope and support. WFFT-TV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Two Fort Wayne natives will invest $9.5 million to build an 80-room hotel at 1661 S. Phoenix Parkway in southeast Fort Wayne, aided by a 10-year tax abatement plan. Construction will begin in August + finish by the end of next year. The Journal Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Northwest Allen County Schools will tell the school board this spring about a plan to finance over $14 million in building upgrades for 11 schools through 2030, covering pavement, roof, chiller and boiler replacements. - ➤ Storm Team 55 in Fort Wayne uses the TOR:CON tool — a 0-to-10 scale that shows tornado risk within 50 miles — to help residents understand severe weather risks. The tool makes clear that lower numbers do not ensure safety while higher numbers do not guarantee a tornado. WFFT-TV

- ➤ Indiana Senate Enrolled Act 91 lets six counties continue syringe service programs with new restrictions — including county residency requirements and set-backs on sites near schools — as Gov. Braun declines to sign; the bill will become law Monday unless vetoed. WFFT-TV
- ➤ Indiana BMV asks drivers to check their tires and avoid flooded roads as part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week (BMV branches are open as safe spots during rain and flash floods). WFFT-TV
- ➤ Indiana lawmakers signed a bill to allow a $500 million casino resort in Allen, DeKalb or Steuben counties, pending a November referendum. State Sen. Justin Busch said local officials support the project and casino operators may submit bids by Dec. 1 & further discussions will follow. WOWO
