COMMUNITY NEWS

  • HART reported 2025 progress in Fort Wayne by teaming with law enforcement to help those facing substance abuse, mental health issues, and homelessness. The program saw a 23% drop in nonfatal overdoses and a 12% drop in fatal overdoses (924 Narcan units given) and plans to build on these gains.  US 93.3
  • The Iris Family Support Center & Casa Restaurants partnered on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to pack 2,500 meals that were delivered to local sites, supporting services that help families manage rising household stress.  21Alive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fort Wayne International Airport has added a new section to its long-term parking lot to serve growing crowds during the busy travel season. Travelers can walk on a new paved walkway or call (260-458-4017) for the free shuttle ride.  WFFT-TV
  • A new restaurant, Kim Thai Buffet, will take over the former Casa Ristorante Italiano on Parnell Avenue with a grand opening on Friday, Mar. 13. The restaurant will serve authentic Thai cuisine daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.  21Alive

CULTURE NEWS

  • Glo Wild returns at the Fort Wayne Zoo today and runs through May 31. The festival features nearly 200 illuminated lanterns + interactive photo areas with a train and carousel operating from 7:30 to 10 p.m., with later hours as daylight increases.  WFFT-TV
  • A Women’s History Month play sold out in two days and extra show plans are underway; Councilwoman Michelle Chambers, who produced and directed 'Men-O-Pause: The Vaginates Speak' (featuring volunteer local women and health professionals), said it will run on March 26 at Parkview Physicians Group ArtsLab Black Box Theater.  WFFT-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Southwest Allen County Schools will break ground for a new $32 million career and technical center in November, near Covington Elementary (featuring a salon, student-run restaurant and spaces for technical training). The facility will open in fall 2028 to support students preparing for college and workforce opportunities.  The Journal Gazette
  • Questa Education Foundation launched the Questa Compass Fund Finder, a new online tool that connects students and families in northeast Indiana to scholarships and grants. The project is supported by the Don Wood Foundation, NIPSCO, and the NISOURCE Charitable Foundation.  WFFT-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • City Utilities began work today on Bullerman Drain improvements between Maplecrest Road and Maple Terrace Drive to reduce flooding, with $2 million in funding including a $750,000 grant. The project will rebuild over 1,000 feet of ditch, add capacity, and restore 7.5 acres of native wetland with a walking trail.  US 93.3

FINANCE NEWS

  • Farm Credit Mid-America will return $280 million to eligible customer-owners this month to boost liquidity ahead of spring planting; the cooperative also invests in rural education and youth programs (supporting local communities) as part of its patronage model.  US 93.3

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Brightpoint and Midwest America Federal Credit Union launched the Brightpoint Home Advantage Program helping northeast Indiana families qualify for mortgages up to 225k via a 600k reserve fund. Buyers need a 580 credit score and $1,500 for closing costs (Brightpoint provides counseling while Midwest America handles loan approval).  WFFT-TV
